Duane was like a brother to me. We were a couple of goof balls in high school. We were both drafted the same day and were sent to Vietnam about the same time in 1968. He was with the 4th infantry Division and I was with the First Infantry Division. After we got out of the army Duane went back to work at PECO and I spent 40 plus years in radio news and sports..mainly in San Diego. We always kept in touch. When Duane passed away it was like a big part of my life also passed away. He was a wonderful man who I loved like a brother.
Duane Paton was also a very good friend and Duane, Chuck (Ed) Fritsch, and I hung out during Elementry School at Westbrook Park Elementry School. The three of us played Basketball together and other different sports. It was a great friend ship. When Duane and Chuck went into the Army I went into the Air Force. Duane was a great guy and we all miss him.
