Joe represented all that was good.  He was friendly, scholarly, hard-working and tolereant.  I think Joe and I were best friends until he moved to Marple-Newtown.  We stayed in contact during college (I continued to work at his family's florist on City Line Ave. during the holidays) and our last conversation was only a few months before he died.  His death came as a great shock to me.  I wish his family peace in the knowledge that his life was well-lived and leaves those who knew him with a great example.  I have some funny stories about him playing football in 9th grade and a bully picking a fight against him but I will save those stories for a time that is full of liquid refreshment.
