He died just before the 20th reunion. I was so shocked to hear the news. I sat between he and Tony Vraim in English class at Beverly Hills. He teased me all the time. Wish I knew the reason. He was a great kid.
Charlie and I were in a motorscooter accident (Honda 50) together at age 16. Charlie driving down a hill, me on the back - probably hitting 50mph and couldn't negotiate a curve. Charlie crashed into a parked car and broke his leg in 5 places. I flew across a lawn - no hemet - cordovan loafers with no socks - in other words - stupid.
I spent a week in the hospital but was very lucky.
But I saw the wild core of Charlie - free as the wind...
While I was looking at some old photos prior to the 50th Reunion, I came across one of Charlie. I think it was taken when we were headed to the rehersal for the graduation (memory fails). I think that because he was sitting in the passenger seat of my Dad's '61 Oldsmobile, not my stylish 1960 Valiant. I remember having the Olds because I was going to use that to go to the Prom. There is also a shot of Harvey Schwartz at the Tower in full Cap and Gown, and a few others. I'll try to scan them and post them here.
Charlie was a great friend, and truly missed after all these years.
