Bob was a warm, friendly guy with a good sense of humor. Being in classes with him was a memorable experience. I was glad to have known him.heart

One of the saddest moments is when you hear of the passing of an old friend. Bob and I grew up together on the other side of 69th St.  We rode the school buses together, played summer evening softball with the 69th AA and summer day softball in the fields of Cobbs Creek Park bordering on Glencoe Road. Bob was a great admirer of Warren Spahn, a lefty pitcher on the Braves back in the 60’s.  He knew the Phillies and loved them too.  Funny how you remember the strangest things about your childhood pals—so many stories. Bob will be in my thoughts always; I share in your grief at our sad loss. RIP.

I never knew Bob, in school.  But, we met, very coincidentally, when we met up with mutual friends, about a year ago, at Maggie O'Neills.  We spent a great evening, reminiscing about school, talking Phillies baseball, and enjoying some adult beverages.  A really nice guy!    I knew of his many health problems, and was so glad he could attend the reunion.   I didn't get a chance to talk to him, that night.  I really wish I had.  But, I wanted to respect his privacy, and let him spend time with his closest friends.  I'm really glad that those friends got to spend some time with him, one last time.   RIP Bob.

Bob was a valiant warrior who fought to overcome his health issues.  His fortitude was unparalleled. So sad to hear that he lost his battle.   God bless him.

Dearly beloved Bob Disciullo, my Class of '66 brother and brother-in-arms (Vietnam), was as warm, kind, honest, and understanding as a brother can be.  I am happy that my Melanie and I shared a table with him at our 50th reunion.  We had a wonderful and memorable time together there.  I did not know then that this would be the last time that I would share his company.  The last time I talked to him on March 3rd, I asked if he was feeling better today than yesterday, to which he replied "no".  I also asked if there was anything I could do to make his tomorrow better than today, to which he replied "please pray for me".  So Melanie and I prayed for him to have a better tomorrow, and now that is how we remember him, in our prayers and in our fond memories of enjoying his company at the fabulous 50th reunion of our UDHS Class of '66.

After spending 10 years in Catholic School I spent my last two years at Upper Darby. I was apprehensive and wondered what it would be like in Public School. Now more than 50 years ago I remember those who welcomed me and shared their friendship. One of the first classmates to make me feel welcome was Bob. One thing we had in common was the sport of Bowling. We would go to a local bowling alley near 69th street. He encouraged me to join the school bowling league. He would invite me to his home on several occasions.   After our graduation our paths never crossed again. There were others in the class with whom I became friends.  The next eight years took me out of state for college and post graduate school. I was ordained a Catholic Priest in 1974 for the Archdiocese of Balltimore. I keep in touch with a fellow classmate (Marc Loundas) who lives near me. I was very sorry that I was unable to attend the reunion. It was Marc who introduced me to the website for the class of 66 and I do appreciate being able see where we have come in 50 years. I pray that the Good Lord grant eternal rest to my friend of many years ago, Bob DiScuillo. (Father) Bill Foley
