Bobby served in Vietnam in 1967 with the 101st Airborne-- Screaming Eagles/Army. He was a decorated soldier receiving the Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars, among other medals for his service. He was an awesome brother and a great Dad. He was my hero and is deeply missed. We actually graduated together as he repeated a year to prepare for college and off to Officer's Candidate School.

Bob and I got to know each other during high school. He was gracious and generous with me. Bob dated Joyce H. and I was with Sandi O. Sandi and Joyce were best friends. Bob not only had a license before I did but he also had a car. I thought of him as, "Wow, boy does this guy have it all together." We shared his car many a weekend. I'm sure he might have preferred not to "double" some of these nights but he was always so good-spirited with me. It doesn't surprise me that he went in the service; he had a quiet confidence and courage.
