Such sad news to hear of Sam's passing. All of his classmates who attended the Class of '66 reunions will forever remember his "May Day" film that was the highlight ef every gathering. Rest in peace my friend.

Three touch points on me and Sam
I remember Sam from Beverly HIlls Jr High especially a year together in World History Class and his love of history.
He was voracious reader of the big thick red "General World History" text that we used and it was like the chapters that Sam read just had to come spilling out of Sam in incredibale detail, but structured like some kind of Cliff's Notes, and as a result he ended up tutoring me in world history for that year every time we sat together. More than once, I have to admit that in the midst of a quiz or test, I'd hear Sam's voice in my head telling me the answer as I read the question because of his enriching expositions of various elements of world history.
Surprising thing is that one day we are sitting in the Cafeteria and he mentioned and then he totally explained the great Armenian disporia that was a result of the Ottoman Empire coming apart at the turn of the century.
Now, in thinking of Sam, with his passing, it is almost magical to remember that long ago day, in how he explained it all, in a very animated way especially of the Armenian dream of being a fully independent country.
Because decades later, long after we wll went our separate ways upon graduation, I am standing in front of a town hall in what was then, in 1991, the newly independent from the old USSR, Armenia and at that instant, I suddenly remembered Sam telling me that the dream of the Armenian people was to be free in their own counry. And the country finally was totally independent roughly three decades later. Could not find Sam to tell him, at the time.
Then in 2001, our paths crossed via ebay.
I was on ebay looking for a antique glass paper weight to give as a gift. And I found it and it was remarkable, as an artowrk and bought it. Then when I settled up on the payments page, I realized the merchant in Media, PA was no other than Sam.
After the, what was really a stuning glass paperweight arrived, I called him up and had a "it was supposed to be a few moments," but lasted five hours long conversatation with him about how our lives turned out. It was one of those moments you remember forever.
I still do.

((as I remember it ...)) Sam butilt an FM radio receiver (or transmitter?) from plans in Popular Electronics,
and I helped.
Starting with the May Day 8mm movies, Sam was all about having a good time; and that continud into the UDHS reuniouns.
I will always remember him fondly.

My parents had an antiques and clocks relationship with Sam for years. They also lived to go to Rose Tree to see shows and Sam was in a few of them I guess. One visit back home I was staying at the Media Inn with my husband, Greg. Rosemary Morgan (Malseed) and her hubby Chip dropped by as Sam and Anna were going to be singing at Karaoke night and it was great to hear them be so professional and entertaining.
Ah yes...May Day. So weird. Blue puffy leg gym suits... I can really go to town on the kazoo playing Sousa marches and I can sort if still do, at least in my mind, the "exercises" . Yikes!!
But I will always have good memories of Sam. The post reunion party at Picas pizza...gone now too %-((
And him playing oldies...REAL oldies like Sinatra when we all wanted OUR music!! Too funny.
For laughs he should have played some TODD!!
Rest in peace Sam. Condolences Anna. Live long and prosper class of 66!!
